Chief Executive Recruitment
Most people will be impacted by cancer at some point in their lives – either themselves or their loved ones. When they receive that news, they want and need access to cutting-edge treatment with compassionate patient care. The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity is here for them – raising millions of pounds each year in support of the world-class Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust. We are at a significant point in our history, as we become an independent charity for the first time and seek to increase funding to the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.
About Us
We are the only charity dedicated to supporting patients and research at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust.
Our Charity in Numbers
For 26 years The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity has been raising funds to change the lives of people with cancer in our region.
The Difference We Make
Charity donations support the work of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in many ways, most of which fall under one of four themes.
Welcome from the Chair – Brian Barwick OBE
Thank you for your interest in becoming the next Chief Executive of Clatterbridge Cancer Charity. By exploring this opportunity, you are considering joining an organisation that is both proudly of its place and ambitious in its reach – one that delivers meaningful, life changing impact across communities that I know well and care deeply about.
Clatterbridge Cancer Charity stands for something powerful in our region. We support one of the UK’s leading specialist cancer centres, and together we serve a diverse population stretching across Merseyside and Cheshire. This place based footprint is one of our greatest strengths. It gives our work authenticity, character and urgency. Every community we support has its own story, its own needs and its own relationship with Clatterbridge – and we honour that in everything we do.
What makes this Charity unique is the combination of cutting-edge clinical innovation and deeply human care. We fund world leading technologies, research posts and breakthrough projects, but we also fund the things that bring dignity, comfort and hope into the most difficult of moments. Many of the enhancements that patients and families rely on today are the direct result of philanthropy – and of the trust our communities place in us.
We are now looking for our next CEO who can build on this strong foundation and help us go further. Someone who understands the power of place: who sees that supporting cancer care is not just about hospitals and treatments, but about the lives, experiences and expectations of people in every corner of our region. Someone who can ensure the Charity reflects the communities it serves – their diversity, their challenges, their resilience and their ambition.
The next CEO will lead the Charity at a time when demand is rising, research is evolving and technology is creating extraordinary new possibilities. You will work hand in hand with exceptional clinical and research colleagues at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, ensuring that charitable investment continues to fuel progress where it matters most. You will champion our mission in boardrooms, community halls, corporate offices and research labs – translating complex priorities into compelling stories that inspire belief and generosity.
This role calls for clarity, authenticity, resilience and heart. It requires a leader who can bring people together, who can build lasting partnerships, and who can navigate complexity without losing sight of what really matters: the people and communities we exist to serve. Clatterbridge Cancer Charity is bold, trusted and deeply rooted in place – and that is what gives us our edge. If you want to lead an organisation that is distinctive, important and profoundly human, I warmly encourage you to consider joining us.
Thank you again for your interest. We look forward to meeting the leader who will help shape the next chapter of the Clatterbridge story.
